Special thanks to "Marvelous" Marv Johnson for organizing such a memorable week! For anyone interested in signing up next year, check out the official Run Hawaii website.

Big Island: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

The group did an 11-mile out-and-back run on a gently inclining road up the volcano, while others got to explore the top of the crater, which are the views seen below!

The calm before the chess storm on the deck of the Pride of America.

Maui: Mt. Haleakala hike

An 11-mile point-to-point route descending from the 10,000 ft summit into a valley of lava flows, and climbing through a rainforest back up to ~8,000 feet.

More fun in Maui.

Brent took a walk on a deserted beach while the group ran a 5-miler on a pedestrian/bike trail nearby.

The cruise ship from the beach.

Lahaina, on southwest coast of Maui

After the early run, we rented a car and drove to Lahaina to hang on the beach and take a surf lesson that we obviously didn't need!

Kona

As the ship sailed for Oahu, we celebrated a day well spent in the only unoccupied hot-tub - the kid's tub, complete with slide.

Kuaui

An endangered monk seal resting lazily on the beach:

Kuaui was overrun by wild chickens. While the cock-a-doodle-doos were endearing at first, by the end they were no longer cute.

I must admit, I was rather disappointed in Wallace Jr's performance. He only managed 8 minute miles at best.
